What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've lost your Nissan keyfob or it has stopped working. Before you contact the dealership or panic, trace your steps to find out where you had it last.
It's not difficult to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang out of it.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with your Nissan is an essential component of the advanced keyless entry system. It connects to the vehicle's electronic systems to unlock doors or start the engine, and it has a convenient design that is easy to carry around. A key fob can also provide benefits, such as locking out protection. This function ensures you don't leave your vehicle with keys inside.
Smart keys operate wirelessly unlike older models that required you to insert the key into the ignition slot in order to access your vehicle's internal systems. When you get close to the vehicle, your Nissan detects the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This may include locking or opening the doors, lowering and raising the tailgate, or even starting the engine.
Certain smart key models are equipped with an invisible valet key made of metal. The key can be removed from a release on the side of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox before giving it to a valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, then you'll have to replace the batteries. The owner's guide will give instructions on how to change the batteries on most fobs.
Intelligent Key Fob
Nissan Intelligent Key Fobs permit you to unlock your car's doors and start the engine with the touch of a button. You can also activate an array of presets that meet your needs, like adjusting the mirrors and seat to maximize comfort. You can control the music through your smartphone so you don't have to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs come with an antenna built-in which sends an alert to your car when you touch a button or move towards it. When the vehicle receives this signal it is activated opening and locking doors, kicking off the engine, and opening the trunk. If you'd like to test out the fob, stand a distance from your vehicle and press the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds, then you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Batteries are required for the operation of Intelligent Key Fobs. If yours runs out the batteries, our Parts Department can help you to replace it quickly and efficiently. To do this, first take the key hidden in your key fob, then access the battery compartment. Replace the battery with a brand new one after you have removed the old one. Make sure the positive side of the new battery is facing the same direction as the previous one did. Finally close the battery compartment and return the key to its safe place inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start allows drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside, so long as they're within the operating range. The ignition of the vehicle is activated by pressing an appropriate button on the key fob or smartphone application. The remote start system could also trigger climate control and allow the driver to choose their preferred temperature. Certain systems have two-way communication that lets the driver be aware of what's happening inside their vehicle.
The battery's power is low, which is the most frequent reason for your remote to stop not working. The key fob is powered by a tiny battery that is replaceable. It lasts for about two years. It's an easy process, however you'll need to know the location of the key hidden on the Intelligent Key fob and how to access the battery compartment.
Flip the fob over and press the latch on the backside of the keypad. Once the key pad is open remove the battery and replace it with a new one, making sure it matches the size and configuration of the existing battery. Be sure to install the hidden key and put back the key fob in the correct way before closing the case. Contact our parts department to assist in replacing your Intelligent Key fob battery.
Lockout Protection
Lockout protection eliminates nuisance lockouts caused by impedance relay failure. A special module within the power control unit watches the impedance relay's activity and then disables the output. This option is only available to vehicles that have the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu for the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have happened because a machine was started when it should have been completely shut down to repair or maintenance. These accidents are usually the result of the energy being not released properly. The KeyLab -out tag-out (LOTO) systems can help avoid these accidents by making sure that machines are off until an authorized person releases them.
The LOTO system consists of a variety of locks, tags and other devices to isolate, secure, or block a device from an electric source. All "affected", "authorized", and "qualified" personnel must be instructed in the use of lockout/tagout devices. These devices include but are not restricted to chains, locks padlocks, wedges adapter pins, and self-locking fasteners. Each device is identified and labeled, indicating the date and time at which it was put in use, the name and title of the person who is authorized and the reason for the lockout/tagout (repairs, maintenance or repairs, etc.). It must also be clearly stated that these devices can't be removed until a full LOTO procedure is followed.
