Why Buy a 3 Wheeler Buggy?
If you enjoy an early morning run, a three-wheel buggy may be the best option for you. They come with larger wheels that offer a smoother and more comfortable ride, but can be bulkier to store and require a larger car boot.
Those wanting to use their pushchair on outdoor walks should look at models with air-filled tyres (also called pneumatic) as they are more able to withstand the rigors on uneven ground and have a swivelling front wheel that can be locked to provide greater stability.
What is a three-wheeler buggy?
No matter if you're driving off-road or in the city, a 3-wheeler offers the best maneuverability. They are simple to maneuver and change direction on the fly and pass all stability tests. A fabric sling seat sits snug inside the frame, instead of sitting on top of it like modular seats. This design has lower center of gravity for easier pushing and less curb pops (you don't have to put any effort or weight into popping your buggy over the curb). Mountain Buggy(r) even comes with an original design sports verso(tm) with a 3 wheeled inline chassis that grows with your family - from a parent's face infant carrier to toddler ride-on boards.
Are you planning to go "off-road"?
It's crucial for those who like to explore off-road, and are more adventurous that their buggy can handle rough terrain. You need a good suspension to absorb bumps, and large wheels that have air filled tires for a good grip on difficult terrain. A front wheel that locks is also a fantastic feature to ensure stability while running on rougher surfaces.
MFM reviewer Kath really put this fun lovin' buggy to the test while driving it over rough grass, cobbles and dirt tracks with her newborn and 3 year old, and said "it handled everything with ease and was even enjoyable to jog in with. The 16 rear wheels and the lockable'swivel' wheel on the front offer great stability when working off-road paths or uneven surfaces. Additionally, the tyres come with a suspension built-in for a smooth ride."
Sport verso is another world first. It's an amazing single buggy, however it is easily adapted to take two (or more!) as your family grows all within the footprint of one buggy! The fabric sling seat fits snugly inside the frame, at the right height to ensure the perfect weight distribution, instantly delivering a much easier push, a lighter curb pop and better ability to maneuver on any terrain.
Want to 'go around town'?
A 3-wheel buggy has a single wheel at the front and two wheels in the rear. Based on the model, either the wheel is free to rotate or can be locked in place so that the buggy can only be driven in straight lines. Their USP is that they are incredibly manoeuvrable and easy to steer and they will often come with suspension (which can be useful in tricky terrain) and air-filled tyres to ensure the ride is soft and comfortable. This means they are perfect for everyday use in town and are usually equipped to handle kerb pops, as well as being capable of going off road as well.
However, just like any buggy, it's important to drive them responsibly and to not be distracted by a mobile phone, tablet or any other gadget. 3 wheel pushchair is also important to avoid driving when under the influence of drugs or alcohol as this can alter your reaction time and judgment. If you do have a car boot to store your buggy, be sure to check the size of its footprint when fully folded to ensure it will fit in your car.
If you're seeking a buggy to take you from the parks to the shops, then you must look for one that has a large shopping basket, a sturdy brake pedal, and a large sun canopy (50plus inches in diameter) with an extendable pole. MFM reviewer Kath particularly liked the sling seat in fabric, which has an automatic lie flat bed for newborns, and felt that the seating was placed perfectly within the frame for good weight distribution - but it was noted that the triangular frame has half the storage capacity of the four wheeler.
Do you want to go 'in the park Are you looking to go 'in the park'?
With the amazing maneuverability this fun-loving 3-wheeler has to offer it is ideal for urban adventures too. MFM reviewer Kath test drove it and discovered that it could traverse bumpy sidewalks, grass and cobbles with ease. It also was able to take on the city's kerbs as the fabric seat sling is positioned snugly within the frame at the ideal height for weight distribution.
This buggy is great for jogging too as it can be fitted with lockable swivel wheels on the front and has a'snug & stretch' tyre that gives an extremely smooth ride while you're running around the streets. The only drawback to the big wheels is that it can be difficult to fold into smaller spaces. It does have some impressive storage options to make up for this! - including a huge basket and a zippered rear pocket.
